Precision Sailboats Precision 165
A Tiny Thoroughbred

Smallest of the Precision cabin boats, the P-165 still shows the commitment to quality construction and fine sailing performance of her larger sisters. Light and simple, nimble and easy to sail or transport, the P-165 is a lot of boat in a little package.

Precision Boat Works was established in 1978 with the initiative to bring sailing to the average family. Affordable fun, if you will. The concept was to build a line boats that can be easily trailered behind today's cars, simple enough to be inexpensive, but big enough to sleep aboard, and stable enough to take along the family.

Precision Boat Works is now celebrating its Silver 25th. Anniversary, during this time they have quietly built over 3,000 boats. The Precision line of boats features lively performance and good sea manners, all requirements to make sailing our boats fun for your family and friends. Precision enjoys a well deserved reputation for delivering an honest sailboat that sails well, is easy to use and provides trouble free service.

Mr. Jim Taylor has been their designer of choice for all the current Precision models. Jim is perhaps best known for being one of the leading custom race boat designers in New England and he brings that extreme level of design skill to all of our boats. His enthusiasm for developing trailerable boats that sail well has been realized in all the Precision models. The designs are well laid out with the user in mind, and the most is made of all available space. The hulls/decks are all hand laminated fiberglass construction and are well appointed with top of the line hardware, leaving little to add. The boats are also designed with trailering in mind; centerboards are used in the 15 and 185, a lead shoal keel on the 165 and we feature the very efficient shoal keel/centerboard design on the 18, 21 and 23, with a lead shoal fixed keel on the 28. These keel designs gets the ballast down low for stability and the kick up centerboard is housed completely below the cabin sole. These boats have none of the bad habits that many trailerable boats have. That is, they sail! They go upwind very well; they reach, run and have stability that inspires confidence in the new sailor.

Precision Boat Works continues to focus entirely on small boats and their long experience in this niche shows in each boat they build. Their commitment to high-quality construction and function is unwavering, and they understand firsthand what makes sailing fun. Sophisticated buyers are sure to be impressed with the entire Precision line.
